What a Weekend!

Steve and I spent a long weekend at Sugarloaf/USA with our friends the Jason & Nancy Riggs. Jason and Nancy have an apartment in Carrabassett Valley which is only about 10 minutes from the mountain. It's so nice to have a place to stay while we are up there. It takes us a little over 2 hours to get to the valley from our house... we have done the up and back trips several times this year (that's a round trip in a day), but it's so nice to stay when we have several days of skiing planned. We took off Friday and Monday from and made the most of what could be the last weekend of skiing for me.

Nancy and I skied together on Friday and it was AMAZING probably my favorite day so far this year. I actually skied my first black diamond! Please keep in mind it was only because the conditions were ideal (no ice, no bumps and a perfectly groomed trail - and hardly another person on the trail) it was so fun! Nancy is a much better skier than I am now, it was nice of her to take it easy and ski with me.

Saturday was a lot more of the same, although it was the most crowded I have seen it all year. Stacy and I skied together for a couple runs before she had to go to work - I kept up with her! That night I went out to The Widowmaker for the first time in years. We (Steve and I) don't go back up to the mountain once we are done skiing for the day... seems like too much work and I am usually too tired. Cheesy live band, good friends, good drinks - good time!

As fun as it is to be away, it's really good to come home. My cats missed us and I like sleeping in my own bed... cooking in my own kitchen, etc.

I love being an Auntie

Being an Auntie never gets old.

Announcing Alexandra Olson Alder! My sister Meagan had her first baby Wednesday 2/28/07 at 9:13 pm. Alex weighs 6 pounds, 11 ounces and is 19" long. I am so happy for Meagan and Jon... I tear up when I think about it. It has been so amazing to be in such close contact with her through this journey. I was there the morning she took her pregnancy test and the first one she told (besides Jon, obviously). I have heard all the stories about how her body was changing, her doctor's appointments, hypnobirthing and was part of the nursery painting debacle :) I can't wait to meet and hold the sweet little one who I have decided to call AleBaBa since I already have a nephew Alex. Thankfully my sweet sister Erin sent pictures this morning and that will have to do until I get to see her on the 19th.

I am so grateful for all my nieces and nephews - Alexander, Graham, Simon, Sheely, Xavier, Preston, Emma, Mary, Ava, Alexandra and Nadia for all the fun times we have had and will have. They all have a special place in my heart and I love them all.
